Thanks to the clocks going back, many of us managed to grab a little bit of extra shut-eye over the weekend. And that’s no bad thing because, as a country, we seem to be chronically sleep-deprived. According to the Sleep Council, the average Briton gets six-and-a-half hours sleep a night, which for most people is not enough. Gunpowder: Guy Fawkes drama violence upsets viewers

A BBC drama about the gunpowder plot has drawn criticism for its violence. One viewer labelled an execution scene in Gunpowder “grotesque and completely unnecessary”, while another called it “one of the most painful things I’ve ever witnessed on TV”. The drama, starring Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington, tells of the 1605 plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament.
