Councils buying homeless one-way train tickets

A number of councils in England are regularly buying one-way train tickets for homeless people out of their area, the Victoria Derbyshire show has found. Some spent more than £1,000 a year on fares and charity Homeless Link called the scale “worrying”. Football Association: MPs call for unsold England tickets to go to schools

More than 100 politicians have signed a letter to the Football Association urging it to donate unsold tickets for England matches to schools. Written by Shadow Sports Minister Dr Rosena Allin-Khan and backed by 128 MPs from all four major English political parties, it asks FA chairman Greg Clarke to “take steps to ensure the days of empty wasted seats are ended”.
