Take three steps before visiting GP, public urged

People should take three steps to try to solve a health problem before seeing their GP, a doctors’ leader has urged. Patients should see if they can sort it themselves, see a pharmacist or use a reputable online source of information, the Royal College of GPs says. GPs “really feel the pinch” over winter because of demand, said chairwoman Professor Helen Stokes-Lampard. If just 10% of people did not visit their GP, it would make “a huge difference”, she said. GP leaders say there are not enough family doctors working…

News: ATOL: Three million Brits poised to book holiday as snow descends

New research from ATOL has found that three million people are set to book their holiday this week, as December’s snowy weather accelerates the holiday booking period for one in five consumers. Newcastle dropped into the relegation zone after suffering a fourth defeat in a row, while Arsenal moved back into the top four with a narrow victory. Ainsley Maitland-Niles hit the side-netting for Arsenal before the break, but Newcastle had chances in the second half for Jacob Murphy and Ayoze Perez. The result puts Arsenal into fourth place while Newcastle have now claimed just one point from the…
