Softbank plans $18bn share sale of its mobile business

Japanese giant Softbank is planning to list its mobile phone business in Tokyo and overseas, according to the Nikkei newspaper. The listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and possibly in London aims to raise 2 trillion yen ($ 18bn; £13.1bn). Softbank confirmed in a statement that the share sale was an option, but said no decision has yet been made. Waitrose bans sale of high-caffeine energy drinks to under-16s

Waitrose is to ban the sale of high-caffeine energy drinks to children aged under 16. The supermarket said customers buying drinks containing more than 150mg of caffeine per litre would be asked to prove their age from 5 March. The move follows concerns over the impact of the high sugar and caffeine content on children. Teachers’ union NASUWT said one in 10 teachers cited energy drinks as a key cause of poor pupil behaviour. Ban sale of mini mobile phones, justice secretary says

Online retailers should ban the sale of miniature mobile phones designed to be smuggled into prisons, the justice secretary has said. David Lidington said the devices were advertised as being able to go undetected by the body orifice security scanners used in England and Wales. “Beat the BOSS” phones can be bought for £25, but are reportedly changing hands for up to £500 inside jails.
