This site may earn affiliate commissions from the links on this page. Terms of use. Game publisher Electronic Arts took it on the chin late last year when fans vehemently objected to the use of microtransactions in Star Wars Battlefront II. The backlash was so bad EA temporarily removed paid purchases from the game in order to retool the system, but gamers and even lawmakers are concerned about how these paid features are implemented across the industry. EA has reaffirmed its commitment to microtransactions, though. In its recent investment call,…

Usage remains low for pill that can prevent HIV infection

From gritty neighborhoods in New York and Los Angeles to clinics in Kenya and Brazil, health workers are trying to popularize a pill that has proven highly effective in preventing HIV but which — in their view — remains woefully underused. Marketed in the United States as Truvada, and sometimes available abroad in generic versions, the pill has been shown to reduce the risk of getting HIV from sex by more than 90 percent if taken daily. Mourinho believes the Champions League is the “natural habitat” of the three-time European champions, who kick-off Group A against Basle at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening. It will be United’s first match in the competition for 644 days and appears a great opportunity to…

Montana's Health Co-op remains standing as others falter

Montana’s health care co-op, one of America’s few remaining alternatives to traditional health insurance, will resume accepting new enrollees Sunday after it voluntarily pulled itself from the state’s insurance marketplace in December. The insurer took the nine-month hiatus from enrolling new members in the exchange created by President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act to boost its financial reserves and keep it from the same fate that has befallen failed co-ops across the country. The program was among about two dozen privately run health co-ops that sprang up across the country…
