Oculus Working With Qualcomm on Wireless Rift, Slashes Price in Half

A new report claims that Oculus is working with Qualcomm to design a headset that won’t require tethering to a PC or phone, and will sell for as little as $ 200. This standalone headset would be a huge step forward for the industry, and it couldn’t come at a better time for Oculus. Oculus may have first demonstrated the VR’s ability to generate community excitement, thanks to its fabulous Kickstarter debut. But the company has struggled over the last 12 months. Clementine Ford: This is the personal price I pay for speaking out online

A lot has been written about the consequences of doing activism online, particularly if you work in the feminist space. Too often, these testimonies or complaints are dismissed as the rantings of oversensitive baby-women. We provoke it, we’re told. Some of us are even accused of courting it, laying traps to ensnare the splendid chaps who wouldn’t normally dream of dropping by to talk about the various ways you should be beaten or violated but who just couldn’t resist telling you this one time how your face looks like a…

News: Arora Group proposes cut price Heathrow expansion

Some Cubans choose dose of private medicine despite price

For a dollar, Cuban podiatrist Serafin Barca will spend a half hour cutting the corns off a senior citizen’s foot, or nearly an hour removing a stubborn wart. The 80-year-old is among the last private medical workers in communist Cuba, which prides itself on its free, universal state health care and which has barred the creation of new private medical practices since 1963 — the year Barca graduated in his specialty after four years of study. Barca is busy from morning until night treating patients frustrated with the inefficiency of…

Aukey Cortex 4K VR headset review: A lot of pixels at a low price

Not enough resolution is one of the most common complaints about the current crop of VR headsets. They’re all more or less roughly 1080p (aka 2K), split between the two lenses. So I was really interested when Aukey came out with the Cortex 4K VR headset at $ 399.99 — substantially below the Rift or Vive. However, while specs are one thing, real world performance is another. I’ve been taking an Aukey Cortex 4K through its paces. So far, my test results have been mixed. Unboxing the Aukey Cortex 4K The headset weighs…

Turkey's Erdogan warns Dutch will pay price for dispute

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has warned the Netherlands it will “pay the price” for harming ties after two of his ministers were barred. The two ministers were blocked from addressing Turkish voters in Rotterdam on Saturday, with one of them escorted to the German border. The Dutch government said such rallies would stoke tensions days before the Netherlands’ general election. Turkey’s ties with several EU countries have become strained over the rallies. The rallies aim to increase support among Turks living in Europe who are eligible to vote in…
