Pound hits highest level since Brexit vote

Sterling has jumped to its highest level against the US dollar since the Brexit vote. The surge to almost $ 1.37 came after Bloomberg reported that the Spanish and Dutch finance ministers had agreed to seek a Brexit deal that kept the UK as close to the EU as possible. Scottish A&E waits at highest level

The number of people waiting more than four hours in Scotland’s accident and emergency units reached record high levels in the last week of the year. The latest weekly figures show that just 78% of patients across Scotland were seen within the target time. Mount Agung: Bali volcano alert raised to highest level

The Indonesian authorities have raised the state of alert on the island to its highest level. The island’s airport has now closed, leaving many stranded in the tourist hotspot destination.
