Laptop ban lifted on Emirates flights

The Emirates airline has said the cabin ban on laptops no longer applies on its flights to the United States. In March, the US banned cabin laptops and other large electronic devices to and from eight mostly Muslim nations, fearing bombs may be concealed in them. An Emirates spokeswoman said it had worked with US authorities to meet the requirements of the new security guidelines for all US bound flights. Etihad flights to and from US avoid laptop ban

Passengers on Etihad flights from Abu Dhabi to the US will be able to use larger gadgets, such as laptops, during their journey. Regulations requiring passengers to put laptops and other gadgets in baggage in the hold were introduced in March. The airline said its plan to conduct “enhanced inspections” of passengers had convinced the US to lift its restrictions. The airline runs 45 flights per week from Abu Dhabi to six US airports. Gaming PC maker Razer has unveiled a concept laptop with three 4K screens at the CES tech show in Las Vegas. The firm claims Project Valerie is the world’s first portable laptop of its kind.
