The RMS St Helena, affectionately known as the RMS, made an emotional departure from St Helena Island earlier, following 27 years of dedicated service to the islanders. The RMS’ departure followed a true St Helenian style programme of farewell events. Island residents came out in the hundreds to say their goodbyes to the crew and the ship. The first scheduled commercial airline service to the remote British island of St Helena in the south Atlantic is to land shortly. News: South Africa Airlink to finally establish flights to St Helena

South Africa Airlink will offer scheduled commercial air services to St Helena when it starts flights between South Africa and the island later this year. This follows a period of contractual negotiations between St Helena government and the airline.
