Cost legacy of decades-old NHS blunders begins to rise

NHS medical blunders dating back more than two decades are still costing millions of pounds a year in compensation, it has emerged. Pregnant women are paying 10 times more for obstetric services now compared with 25 years ago, in what a Queensland professor has described as a “massive increase” in costs. Heathrow has said it has identified options that could enable delivery of an expanded hub airport for Britain for £2.5 billion less than the plans submitted to the airports commission in 2015. White House: True cost of opioid epidemic tops $500 billion

The White House says the true cost of the opioid drug epidemic in 2015 was $ 504 billion, or roughly half a trillion dollars. In an analysis to be released Monday, the Council of Economic Advisers says the figure is more than six times larger than the most recent estimate.
