Christmas boxsets give iPlayer its best week on record

BBC iPlayer had its best week ever in the period between Christmas and New Year. This was after a number of popular box-sets were added to the streaming service, including Sherlock, Blue Planet and Miranda. Binge-watch series like Peaky Blinders and Line of Duty helped the broadcaster reach 69.2 million requests to view. The Queen’s broadcast topped TV ratings on Christmas Day, overnight viewing figures have shown. An audience of 7.6 million watched her annual message on BBC One, ITV and Sky News. BBC One’s Mrs Brown’s Boys had the second highest number of viewers, with an audience of 6.8 million.
