Facebook broke German privacy laws, court rules

Privacy rights campaigners are claiming victory over Facebook in a German legal battle. It follows a regional court ruling that found some of the social network’s data consent policies to be invalid. The Vzbv consumer group successfully argued that five of the app’s services were switched on by default, with the relevant privacy settings “hidden”. Facebook intends to appeal, but believes that planned changes to the app will ensure it obeys the law. Vzbv also plans to appeal because some of its other allegations were rejected. These included a claim…

US President Donald Trump has claimed the NHS is “going broke and not working” as he targeted rival Democrats pushing for a universal health system. Fox News broke the UK's broadcasting rules

Two Fox News broadcasts in the UK have been found in breach of Ofcom rules over impartiality. Tucker Carson Tonight was also found in breach for a broadcast in May following the Manchester terror attack. Regarding Hannity, Ofcom said they had taken into account “that Fox News is a US news channel, directed at US audiences,…

Geordie Shore's Marnie Simpson broke ad rules on Snapchat

Two Snapchat posts by the reality TV star Marnie Simpson have fallen foul of the UK’s advertising rules. This was judged to be a breach of the rules against “hidden” advertising on social media. It is the first case of its kind to have involved Snapchat. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) normally deals with such matters by ordering offending posts to be deleted…

Joanie Simpson woke early one morning with a terrible backache. Her chest started hurting when she turned over. Within 20 minutes, she was at a local emergency room.
