Etihad Airways has announced plans to launch scheduled flights between Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, and Baku, the capital city of the Republic of Azerbaijan, effective March 2018. The new route is being introduced to capitalise on the strong and growing demand for flights between the United Arab Emirates and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan 'operated secret $3bn secret slush fund'

Azerbaijan’s ruling elite operated a secret $ 2.8bn (£2.2bn) slush fund for two years to pay off European politicians and make luxury purchases, an investigation shows. The money was allegedly channelled through four UK-based opaque companies. People said to have been paid include European politicians who adopted a favourable attitude to the government.
