The best beauty products of 2016

Over the year a ton of beauty products are launched from skincare, makeup, haircare to bodycare, each boasting of a new ingredient or technology that promises a beauty breakthrough.

This year we reviewed various products from sheet masks, sleeping masks, moisturisers, mascaras to innovative products like the Cushion makeup. To wrap up the year, we share our list of favourite beauty products and reveal why each one is a winner.

Products mentioned are of personal preference and are not influenced by the cosmetics companies.

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser

The best part about this cleanser is that it not only cleanses the face, it also removes makeup! It leaves my skin “fresh” and glowing. And as it works as a two-in-one product, its great during travel and lazy days!

Erborian Yuza Sorbet Featherweight Emulsion

Really love this product. It’s a lightweight daily cream with 13 plant extracts and plant oils and just like the name, it really is “featherlight’. It absorbs really well and my skin feels smooth, moisturised, and glowy.

Sulwhasoo Snowise Brightening Serum

I’m all about achieving that natural glow and this serum does exactly that. It uses nourishing and brightening properties of White Ginseng and leaves my skin soft and smooth with a radiant glow.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF 50+

Gives me perfect coverage and a flawless finish. I don’t need to use anything else after this as it conceals everything.

Yojiya Oil Blotting Paper

I am obsessed with this! Whenever I visit Japan, or rather Kyoto, I get this. It’s seriously the best blotting paper and I’ve been using it for the past two years. It absorbs oil, leaves a matte finish and is a definite must-have. Love the vintage packaging as well!

Sulwhasoo Men Age Defying Cream

This intense moisture cream makes my skin feel refreshed and hydrated, and the effect stays throughout the day. I love that it quickly absorbs into the skin without shine. Also, its practicality – you just pump once or twice and the cream comes out easily onto one’s palm – wins me over.

Sauvage by Christian Dior. This new fragrance by Dior is touted as radically fresh, raw and noble at the same time.

JessPure Lip Balm

I like its lasting moisture when applied. Even better than its affordable price (RM10), proceeds from sales of this lip balm – created by one Datin Jessica Ong and her church friends – go towards worthy causes.

Senka Perfect Whip

I prefer my cleanser to be extra foamy and this lathers up to five times more foam. It is an affordably-priced product that leaves my skin feeling clean and smooth.

Sachajuan Volume Powder

A powder-based spray that creates great volume even for short hair, boost moisure and shine. Products from the Stockholm-based brand Sachajuan are created with “Ocean Silk Technology”, which was developed with different kinds of sea algae.

Sauvage by Christian Dior

I like its composition, which is prevalent with natural ingredients, feels radically fresh and raw.
